Transition Boxes are used with UPS Battery Installations incorporating two or more paralleled strings. They allow electrical separation and isolation of individual battery strings for maintenance and testing whilst providing compliance with Wiring Regulations for over current and short-circuit protection of battery cables. TransiBox enables simple connection of multiple battery cables to the main battery circuit breaker.

ABC also manufactures bespoke units, for example, a combined Transition Box and Isolator.

Transition Box benefits

The use of the TransiBox allows for routine periodic testing of batteries to be accomplished without disturbing bolted battery connections, which may reduce integrity of connections. Total isolation of a battery string is achieved by the removal of the appropriate fuse from its carrier using the fuse puller provided. Safety of maintenance personnel is assured by insulating any live parts against accidental touch and by allowing the enclosure to be locked whilst isolated.

To meet Health & Safety requirements Splitter Boxes enable battery strings to be split into Extra Low Voltage sections - defined as 120V ripple free d.c. maximum.

Battery Isolators and Circuit Breakers

Battery Isolators provide isolation only and can be used in conjunction with TransiBoxes. Battery Circuit Breakers provide over-current and short-circuit protection as well as load switching and isolation.
